This week I want to encourage you try a themed Family Night, any day of the week! My friend Shannon has been doing this, each time with a different theme, and documenting it on her blog, and it looks like a lot of fun. She tries to coordinate food, games, crafts, etc. all around that night's theme.

Here are some of the ideas Shannon's done:

Here are a couple of other simple ideas I came up with, depending on the age of your kids...

  • Movie Night (even the food could relate to your movie of choice!)
  • Camping at Home Night (inside or put up the tent in the backyard!)

My sister-in-law works in the Children's Ministry at a popular Orange County church, and as it turns out, they have been putting together curriculum for Family Nights for quite a while. When I mentioned this post about Family Night ideas, she told me about the downloadable resources that you can check out for free from Rock Harbor's website. If you are a Christian, these downloads would be an awesome way to center your Family Night around Christian values and themes. They have several PDFs available, each based on a theme that includes ideas for games, food, traditions, stories, worship and more.

Have fun, share your Family Night ideas in the comments, and don't forget to enter our giveaway!
