I'm really excited about our new weekly feature, Friday Family Fun! Each week I will try to bring you a fun activity, outing, or some other way to spend time together as a family,
maybe over the upcoming weekend. We also look forward to hearing your
ideas and responses so be sure to come back and tell us if you tried
any of the ideas!
Since this is our first week, I want to start with a simple one! It's officially autumn now, so why not go out on a family walk, collect a few fall leaves, and make a rubbing of them? Even if you are in warm Southern California, you might have some maples in your neighborhood that are starting to turn! And if not, collect some leaves anyways, even if they're still green-- it will still work!
Simply lay down newspaper on the table, then the leaves, and a piece of plain paper over them. Then with fall-colored crayons, rub over the leaves imprinting their shapes & veins onto your paper! Even if your leaves weren't very fall-colored yet, you and your kids can make the artwork very autumn-ish with the right crayons!
Happy October!
