When a baby is first born, there is so much NEWness to the whole situation, especially if it's your first! Usually the hospital will ask you to keep track of the diapers that you change (how many wet, how many poopy), as this is the best way to monitor how much milk your baby is getting.

Another thing that's helpful to track for the first few weeks is feeding times, especially for breastfeeding, when you'll want to alternate sides.  And with the amount (or lack thereof) of sleep you're getting,  how do you remember what side you started on last time?

Well I have a free download for you that should simplify your life for the first few weeks. Download my Feeding & Diapering Chart for an easy way to track both of these things. I modeled mine after the suggested charts in On Becoming Babywise. You'll notice that there are 4 Sheets: Week 1 (which is the most detailed), Weeks 2-4, Weeks 5-10, and an extra sheet for just tracking feeding (which you might want to use at anytime when you are done tracking diapers).

When I used this chart with my baby, I would track which side I breastfed on first, simply by putting a star next to the time under the left or right side.
